nice blog and Viva Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria!
it has been six years that i have been away from
iloilo which i consider as my second home. and i
am now back in the island of my birth, cebu. i hope
and pray to revisit panay very soon.

(postscript: Candelaria does not translate to candles
but to Candlemass, the purification of Mary forty days
after giving birth, so it should be the Parish of Our
Lady of the Candlemass or simply the Parish of La
Candelaria)

(pps: i have read in another blog that the Lady was
restored by a santero from central luzon and her
photo here is not the latest after restoration, so
could you post an updated picture of Our Lady here?)

Manuel L. Quezon our Commonwealth president was Fr. Tomas Santaren son!!.my lolo and some of San Joaquin’s oldtimers tell tales and stories that Manuel L. Quezon visits the town always and our family historian can testify it with old phographs and stories…=)

Praise God wonderful creation! I am so blessed to visit this Church… God is great! That was way back 1981 to 1986,… And of course attended The HOLY Eucharist here.. this experiences is a part of my Vocation… hoping to come back in this Holy place!
CONGRATULATIONS to all the fathers and the community of St. Augustine parish..and wow The patron of this Church is also our Founder Father St, Augustine, Doctor of the Church.
