nice blog and Viva Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria!
it has been six years that i have been away from
iloilo which i consider as my second home. and i
am now back in the island of my birth, cebu. i hope
and pray to revisit panay very soon.

(postscript: Candelaria does not translate to candles
but to Candlemass, the purification of Mary forty days
after giving birth, so it should be the Parish of Our
Lady of the Candlemass or simply the Parish of La
Candelaria)

(pps: i have read in another blog that the Lady was
restored by a santero from central luzon and her
photo here is not the latest after restoration, so
could you post an updated picture of Our Lady here?)

Hello sa tanan! Im in Negros now pero taga Tigbauan, Iloilo gid ko ya.. Lain gid ya tuod sa Iloilo, super Catholics ang mga tawo, mga deboto gid. Sa Negros, damu na gatuluhaw nga mga simbahan nga protestante, gatalalang mga tawo. Pero bisan anhun nila, indi gid nila mapukan ang Iglesya Katolika nga ginpasad ni Kristo. God bless the Catholic Church!! Mother Mary, pray for us.

Jaro Cathderal is not the only cathedral in Panay. A cathedral is described as a church where a bishop resides or officiates a mass regularly. Roxas City, Capiz has a bishop and has a separate diocese, so the church in Roxas City is officially known as the Cathedral of the Immaculate Concepcion (the Patron of Roxas City).
